"Personal Challenge"

I was sooo bored last weekend that I asked Jackie if she wanted to set a challenge for us.
Well, me and my big mouth! She set a challenge to include using these wooden handbags we purchased together about 2 years ago! What? Well it's going to take me a whole day just to find the handbag! Now where did I put it?
So then the design was set as 'vintage' and to include ribbon, bling and flowers. So our challenge was set!
This is our "Cleaning out the Cupboard" Challenge!

I painted mine first in vintage white and inked around the edges with SU Creamy Caramel.
I printed out pictures I downloaded from Paper Chic Papirskatter. I tore the edges and inked them with SU Creamy Caramel as well.

I added some flowers and bling from Bec's online store. The ribbon is from my stash.

I added a gold ribbon slide and scrunched some ribbon to go down the side. I added buttons from my stash with a kaisercraft pearl attached to the middle. The word 'princess' and crown is a rub on.

I finished it off with a tag. It has the same pictures as the bag but just reduced. I added some charms and a chain to hang off the handle along with some ribbon tied in knots.
The whole bag was then sprayed with pearl glimmermist spray.

So after me grumbling about having to search for 'THE' handbag we brought 2 years ago, I was quite happy with the end result. I have made it vintage looking, added ribbon, bling and flowers. I think our personal challenge is done!

So let's pop over to Jackie's and see what this creative lady has made with 'THE' handbag challenge!!

What? A boy card!

Yep, you read right! I actually got around to making a boy's card.
I really have to get a few of these made so I'm not rushing at the last minute.

This is for a family friend who is turning 13 this week.
"Happy Birthday Blake!"
These are also colours that I don't normally use. I'm not sure why but I don't do the brights so well. Orange, yellow and red. But, I see stripes on a boy's shirt or jacket and they just have to have red or orange on them! Go figure! I'm going to try this guy in all browns next time, just to mix it up. (and get rid of that orange ;p )
I followed the sketch over at The Pink Elephant this week. I've been doing the 6 x 6 cards lately and I struggled to cut it back to the 'normal' A2 card. I thought it would be easier to decorate as I wasn't using flowers to fill up the card. Isn't it funny what you get used to?!
Hope you're all having a fabulous week.

All about Bec

I was so excited to receive my new stamps in the mail yesterday from Bec. (link in sidebar).

I have some more Magnolia's (yes Kellie, my stash has doubled!) and a couple of the new Whiff Of Joy City Girls.
Also in my package, Bec had stamped some extra images for me. So generous.
I was thrilled when I saw this one.

I will have to go searching for her again to find her name. I nearly purchased this one a little while back as I fell in love with her instantly.
Late note: Thanks to the lovely Dena, she reminds me this is 'Raven' from Sugar Nellie. Thanks Dena!

Not sure why but I think it's for my love of accessories such as scarves, coats and hats. I so wish I could wear the gorgeous winter hats but they almost make me look criminal! I try different ones on every season just to see if any of the new styles suit. One day I will find MY hat!

Ahum, anyway, back to the card!

I completed the card with a cardmaking kit that I also got from Bec's online store a little while back. I love these packs as it takes the 'guess work' out of it for you. I coloured the image to match the paper and then 'wha laa'.

A big 'Hi' to Vicki who popped in yesterday for 'copic therapy'. It was a fun morning as she was here when my new stamps arrived so of course we had to ink them up! Thanks for the 'adult' conversation ;)
Look what I received this morning!

This was from the very talented (and my dear friend) Jackie.

Thanks gorgeous! Love ya. xo

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

My Foldercard

Well I finally finished my 'little' project.
I don't know why but this seemed to take forever. I had a flying start and then 'conked'.

I got this idea from the very talented Camilla. This was a tutorial on the Whiff of Joy Inspirations blog.
This is the inside. Both sides have pockets for whatever you like.
The left is a place for your special message.

The right side I add a bookmark with magnets on the inside.

As there is lots of buttons, flowers and bows, it fits perfectly for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge this week. So yep, I'm going to try my luck.

Have to run. I have a friend coming over this morning for some copic therapy!!

Keep creating, Kylie xo
Late Note: With some encouragement ;) I have also entered this into Flutterby Wednesday's Challenge. Thanks girls!

Had to do it!!

I do apologise but I have had to turn on 'Word Verification'.
I have been left spam comments on my blog and hopefully by turning word verification on, this will stop. Sorry for the inconvenience but it had to be done :(
If you know how to stop this I would appreciate your help.
Thanks for your understanding.

4th Birthday

I wanted to make a cute and bright card for a girl's 4th birthday whose party we are going to this weekend.
I have made this using all Stampin' Up products.
I've used dimensionals underneath the sentiment, the flower and leaves.
Colours used are Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi.

This is the inside of the card. I 'stamped off' before stamping the image on the whisper white.
I also decorated the envelope.
The stamp set is 'In The Spotlight'.

It was so much fun getting back into stamping and finding 'lost' stamp sets ;)
It's so quick and easy to put a card together especially when you find inspiration from other crafters.
This idea came from Tracey Old. Thanks Tracey. She has some wonderful projects on her blog.
I have a project on the go at the moment but it seems to be taking 'FOREVER'. I'm calling it 'crafter's block'. The ideas look great in my head but so hard to get it to work on paper!!

I got Top 5!!

Oh my goodness. Can you believe I got Top 5 in the Magnolia Down Under Challenge this week? I can't. It was my 1st entry ever to MDU as I have only just started my Magnolia collection, so have been unable to join in the fun before!
But wait, there's more!!
Kellie from MDU asked if I would be a guest DT member? My answer was "Are you crazy?". I told her she was working too hard and she had finally gone and lost her marbles.
After performing my 'happy dance' I replied YES!! Oh how excitement. Never done this before.
Thanks Kellie and I am honoured to say I am a part of MDU!
Go on, check out my new MDU banners!! Cool ey?!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge

oops!! Nearly forgot to enter my card into the Magnolia Down Under Challenge! (I think I made it!) I've also entered this into the Just Magnolia Challenge.
I coloured this gorgeous Magnolia stamp last weekend and then couldn't put it together.
I found a sketch from Firday Sketchers #88 (last weeks sketch). This sketch was amazing to work with. I followed it perfectly but when I thought I'd finished I realised I didn't have any flowers on it!! OMG! A card with no flowers? What was I thinking??

I made another easel card. Love these. The theme for Magnolia Down Under was "Pink and Grey". The theme at Just Magnolia is "Love". I've used SU Basic Grey and Pretty in Pink cardstock. Some SU designer paper and their eyelet border punch.
I've distressed all the edges and added some dazzling diamonds.

I've added some plain paper on the inside for somewhere to write a message.
I stamped some little hearts down the left side in pink.

I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me your lovely comment. They are so appreciated and I love to hear what you think!

Have a great weekend.

Oh so cute!

I don't normally post pics of my family but I just couldn't resist this one!!
My 3yr old Jorjia loves to paint and do "stamper, stamper". (that's stamping by the way).
I stepped outside for the cool breeze (very hot here) to talk to my partner on the phone who is deployed at the moment. We're half way now, whoo hoo!!
I noticed the painting but thought it too good for Jorjia to have done it. I then asked Mikaela (13 yr old) if she'd done it. She replied no and I knew she couldn't have as she was inside with me cleaning up after dinner while Jorjia was painting.
So here it is!

She has coloured the body with those tubes of paint with the brushes on the end. The rest she finger painted as you have to get as messy as possible when playing with paint. This is also why she's naked. Besides the fact it was hot and she slipped over in her wadding pool fully clothed!!
I love the 2 different eyes. It (I say 'it' as I'm not sure what it is)has pink hair, green arms (no mum they're not ears, they're arms!)and red mouth.
I think she's amazing and so darn cute too! Just check out those culs with the gorgeous ringlet there on the left. she is soo going to hate her hair when she gets older. When you have curly hair you want it straight and vice versa!

A gift for someone special

Now that Jackie has this gift in her hot little hands, I can now show you!
I found this tutorial created by the very talented Maria Bell.

I used white cardstock and then covered it in the Grace Taylor paper pack that I've just gotten. (lovin' these papers!)
I put pearls in the centre of the 3 little flower buttons and added glitter to the 3 little butterflies. This MS butterfly punch is also new. (I know, so spoilt).
The inside is 2 paper cd covers that I've stamped in SU Pretty in Pink ink and the Embrace Life stamp set.
I used SU Soft Sky ink and sponged all around the edges.

There are 2 slide out bits of cardstock with tabs that I have decorated (but not shown) with photos of Jackie and I when I visited her in Canberra. I also wrote a personal message on the back of these.

Here is a close up of those darling butterflies that I glittered and pearled!!

Yes, Jackie loved it. Well she does appreciate a good handbag!!

Just For Fun!

Hi bloggers. I hope you all had a lovely weekend.
Here is a card I just made for fun. I wanted to play with my new Magnolia stamps and try masking. It's a bit scary at the beginning isn't it!? I used colours that I woudn't normally reach for first. I tried to match them up with the gorgeous butterflies in the Grace Taylor paper.

I used SU Sahara Sand cs and sponged all the edges in the same ink. All the embellies are from Bec's online shop except for the ribbon and smaller pearls which are from my own stash.
I sprayed it all with pearl glimmermist but a little too much :0 I tried to fix it and dry it but my paper just crinkled! Doesn't it always happen. It's the very last step and then you hear the words "Oops!"
Oh well, I still like it and I luuurve my Jar Tilda & cute envelope!

Dreamcatcher

When I first got this image from Funky Kits, I couldn't wait to colour her in. I did it that night and then left the poor darling in my folder. When I visited Jackie (waving Jack!) I used her Big Shot machine and cut her out. I finally made her at home on a card last night.

The plain cs is SU Almost Amethyst and Rose Red. The ribbon is also SU Rose Red. The patterned paper is DCWV. The large rose is from Wildorchid, the buttons and string are from my stash and the rest of the embellishments are from Bec's online shop. (love those lavender dew drops!)
Thought I would enter this into the Quixotic Challenge and the Flutter By Wednesday Challenge. Wow look at that! 2 Challenges and 1 card. I have improved :)
Hope your weekend is going well.

Male Card Holder

As promised, here is my 2nd card holder. I didn't make the smaller one as there was a problem with the directions. I wrecked a favourite piece of paper too trying to make it. So what did I do? Cracked them (got upset) and then made my dear friend something to cheer her up. I'll save that until next week otherwise she'll see it before she gets it in the mail :)

This is another sheet of that SU Parisian Breeze DSP. I inked the edges with Close to Cocoa. I punched the edges with my new Martha Stewart punch. Arched lattice I think?!
I added a SU metal edge tag with dimensionals and put 'male' on the front.

This male card holder reamains empty while the female one is nearly full!!

These are sooo easy to make, I love it. Who knows how many I will end up with!!

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Card Holder

Well after all that commotion of changing my blog, I think you all deserve a creation!
Here it is!

I loved making this and it was sooo easy. This card holder will hold your 51/2" x 51/2" cards. You only use a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock and then bits for decorating.
I used SU Parisian Breeze dsp,no longer available unfortunately :( , Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand.

I loved it so much I'm going to make another one. This time only using 81/2" x 11" paper.
If you want to play, here is the link for you. Apparently it's on SCS too!
Thanks for visiting.

Do You Like It??

Well I think I've finished. (well for now anyway!) I decided it was time for a change and a brighter blog, so I did it! As you don't do this very often to your blog, it was quite daunting. Especially when I was too scared to hit 1 little button incase I lost the lot! lol. Looking back now, a glass of wine beside me woud've been a huge help. Well it would've :) I might have been more game to hit that little button in the beginning instead of going through it all again, just to 'make sure'! AND I could've toasted to myself on completing my new look blog and not losing anything. {mmmm, that would've needed at least 2 glasses of wine ;) }. Anyhoo, time for bed. I deserve a rest. Hope you like it. If not.....too bad as I'm not going through all of that again!! (not without a whole bottle of wine anyway!).
Keep creating, Kylie xo

Be Patient!

ADDED:
AAARRGGHH!! Trying to make this a 3 column blog and followed the instructions but get stuck on the last little bit. I don't want to press the wrong button as I have gotten this far without losing everything. Emailed for help otherwise I'm done. (well until next time I log on and decide to change something else :)
Please be patient. I am in the middle of changing my blog but have to dash away to a meeting. I will keep 'tweeking' it when I have chance later on tonight. So far so good as it didn't disappear!! Whoo hoo!

Magnolia Card

I bought some new papers a few weeks ago now and I've been dying to use them. Yes, mainly because they're pink and green but I love the designs in the pack from Grace Taylor.

I used a Magnolia image that my dearest friend Jackie stamped off for me and coloured her with my copics.
The cs is SU Pretty in Pink and the flowers and leaves are from Bec's store. I just love the new rose buds.
I sprayed some Pearl Glimmer Mist all over for a shimmer.
I'm going to enter this into the Roses On Paper Challenge. I only just found this blog last night and designed my card around their sketch. This is only my 2nd challenge so I hope they're gentle :)
